The Funniest Supernatural Episodes

Supernatural is an American horror/fantasy TV series about brothers Dean (Jensen Ackles) and Sam (Jared Padalecki) who travel the country to fight demons, ghosts, monsters, and anything else that has a supernatural quality. The show ran for 15 years and unfolded intense and captivating plots from its inception.

Despite the fact that the subject matter of Supernatural may make it seem gory and serious, the actors and writers are all incredibly talented and have managed to inject a lot of humor into it. In fact, at times, it almost feels like pure comedy—with all the hilarious little lines to even full-on episodes that manage to be lighthearted and hilarious, despite the dark backdrop.

• Synopsis: Austin and A.J. are a couple of Jason and Grant (Ghost Hunters) wannabes. They wander (or illegally trespass) onto a Sam and Dean-level (read: legitimately) haunted house while trying to shoot the pilot episode for their prospective TV show.
• Best line: "You need to go be gay for that poor dead intern!"

9. "Wishful Thinking"

• Season: 4
• Episode: 8
• Synopsis: For some reason, everybody's wishes are coming true in a small town. This includes a little girl's hilariously suicidal teddy bear and a perverted teenage boy's dream of being a hollow man (so he could enter women's locker rooms).
• Best line: "Damn right I wanted to save some naked women!"

8. "Party On, Garth"

• Season: 7
• Episode: 18
• Synopsis: Dean, Sam, and another fellow hunter Garth stumble upon a new ghost they've never faced before—a ghost you have to be drunk to see. What ensues? The boys now must hunt while drunk!
• Best line: "Mr. Fizzles is gonna go where the sun don't shine."

7. "Bad Day at Black Rock"

• Season: 3
• Episode: 3
• Synopsis: Sam and Dean come across a lucky rabbit's foot, a really lucky rabbit's foot. However, it comes with very bad consequences.
• Best line: "I'm Batman."

6. "Free To Be You and Me"

• Season: 5
• Episode: 3
• Synopsis: Sam and Dean go their separate ways. Sam tries to be normal again, while Dean and Castiel must face the archangel, Raphael.
• Best line: "All right. Let me tell you something. There are two things that I know for certain. One: Bert and Ernie are gay. Two: You are not gonna die a virgin. Not on my watch. Let's go."

• Synopsis: The boys investigate a local mystery spot they suspect to be some sort of wormhole. Then, Sam ends up like Bill Murray in "Groundhog Day," where he starts reliving the same day over and over again . . . in the heat of the moment.

• Synopsis: Sam and Dean are sucked into an alternate reality, where Supernatural is just a TV show, and they're actors named Jared and Jensen aka male modeling sons of bitches.
• Best line: "Oh, crap! I'm a painted whore!"

I think Mystery Spot is one of my favorite funny episodes. My husband and I watched the movie Groundhog Day that this episode was inspired by and we both agreed the Supernatural version was so much more funny. My next favorite is when they meet Chuck and find out about the Supernatural book series.
